Exchequer
Exchequer Leghorns distinguish themselves from other mottled breeds in that the white feather parts in exchequer Leghorns must prevail, while in other breeds the plumage is required to be prevalently black.
The best colour pattern will be obtained when the bird has many completely white feathers with hardly any completely black ones, especially in the tail and wings. The mottled pattern is irregular, but is required to result into as uniform a colour pattern as possible over the whole body.
Exchequer is recessive towards the black colour. Consequently, when mating to black, the offspring will be 100% black. By crossing the F1 among each others, the offspring will result into 25% homozygous black, 50% heterozygous black and 25% exchequer.
